We’re excited to announce that not one but two of our development team have been shortlisted as finalists for the BIMA Jammy Awards 2021!
As we well know at Giant, every great developer and engineer has a little of that star quality. They might track down a fix like a case-hardened detective or be a Zen-like master of technical arts, but working behind the scenes, these amazing skills can often get overlooked by the wider world. And that’s what the Jammy Awards are set up to recognise. They’re designed to highlight those unsung heroes and showcase the characteristics that make a great engineer.
We have some amazing software engineering talent in our team, and are hugely proud of their hard work and dedication to designing and developing great websites for our charity clients. That’s why we couldn’t be more pleased that two of the team are being recognised for their outstanding efforts.
Shortlisted for the category ‘The Right Hand’, Wayne Fagin is the person you want by your side in a tricky situation - he is unflappable, professional and hugely knowledgeable, a real asset to our team. Wayne’s extensive experience and great technical expertise are of huge benefit to the Giant Digital team and he is always there to help, no matter what. He handles all kinds of requests, bug reports and triage in our team, offering detailed technical responses to extremely complex issues, and supporting both junior and senior team members alike.
Will Hoey is our second finalist, nominated in the category of ‘The Rookie’. Will is most definitely one to watch! Whilst early in his career, his enthusiasm, dedication and drive have seen him make a huge impact to our team and organisation.
Will joined the Giant Digital team just 20 months ago as a Math’s graduate, and his drive, enthusiasm and dedication has seen him grow into an extremely accomplished software engineer in this short period of time. Always keen to make a positive impact, Will proactively goes the extra mile. Not only has he played a significant role in the delivery of projects for Giant’s major charity clients, such as Make-A-Wish, The Brain Tumour Charity and League Against Cruel Sports, but he has also led considerable change in how we build our software components, and recently played a key role within the project delivery team for a significant infrastructure change at Giant, which has led to reduced costs, improved processes, and increased team happiness!
We wish both Wayne and Will all the very best of luck at the Awards which are being held on 18th November in London.
