Frontend Developer

Giant Digital Ltd. is a web consultancy business. We specialise in high quality, user-focused, accessible websites and applications for the charitable sector.

We’re looking for candidates to fill a front-end developer role in our digital agency business. We’re looking for someone who is an established frontend engineer developer who understands the value of doing things the right way, not the quick way.

You will already have a year of commercial development experience, with a strong grasp of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

You should have a solid understanding of modern web module bundling (for example using Browserify, Weback, or Parcel), as well as experience with both CSS preprocessing (ideally with SASS) and JavaScript package management using NPM and/or Yarn.

Knowledge of semantic markup, web accessibility, and major JavaScript libraries (jQuery, React, etc.) is important, and having experience with Django and its templating language would also be an advantage.

You’ll be working alongside others in various roles to deliver an engaging and reliable experience to users; you will need to be able to communicate well with people throughout the business and have an understanding of how the work you deliver will be used by others.

We support all our staff by providing training, conference tickets, and a work environment which encourages best practices.

This role is 100% remote, but you’ll be expected to attend periodic meetups with your team for ‘lunch and learn’, our internal knowledge sharing lunches. You’ll be provided with brand new, state-of-the-art hardware including a laptop, a headset, and a monitor.

Hours & Remuneration

  • The salary band for this role is £27,000 - £32,000 pa., depending on experience.
  • 37.5 hours per week. Our work schedule is flexible, and you can choose your hours from 7am-7pm, Monday to Friday, with our core hours between 11am-3pm.
  • This is a fully-remote role, working in a fully-remote delivery team

  • An informal chat over a coffee with our Technical Director; we will want to get to know you better, swap some stories, and try to understand your motivation and whether we can help you achieve your goals.
  • A sample piece of work in collaboration with our team; you’ll join us remotely, and be able to chat with us, ask questions, and get to know the wider team.
  • A more formal interview, again with the Technical Director, our Operations Director, and a senior member of the frontend engineering team.
